Questline · Terms of Service
Effective date: 2026-05-08 Last updated: 2026-05-08
Agreement
By creating an account or using Questline, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app.
What Questline is
Questline is a personal productivity app that frames the user’s real-life endeavors as RPG-style quests. It uses AI to generate in-voice narrative around the content you enter. It is not a coach, therapist, doctor, lawyer, or accountant. The narrative the Archivist character produces is for entertainment and motivation; it is not professional advice.
Your account
- You’re responsible for keeping your password secure and for any activity under your account.
- You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in jurisdictions that require it) to use Questline.
- One account per person. Don’t share credentials.
- Tell us promptly if your account is compromised.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Questline to:
- Submit content that’s illegal, harmful, or violates someone else’s rights.
- Submit content describing self-harm, abuse, or weapons assembly. The AI is instructed to deflect these prompts; persistent attempts to bypass that may result in termination.
- Attempt to break, probe, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service beyond what fair-use laws explicitly permit.
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialize the app or its output.
- Impersonate anyone else.
- Use the app in a way that disrupts service for others (rate-limit evasion, automated abuse).
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
Subscriptions and billing
- Questline offers a free tier with a 5-active-quest limit and a paid Hero tier with no limit.
- Hero is sold as Lifetime (one-time), Yearly (auto-renewing), or Monthly (auto-renewing). Prices are shown in-app at the time of purchase.
- Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- All purchases are processed by Apple or Google. You can manage or cancel from your platform’s subscription settings.
- Refunds are governed by Apple’s and Google’s policies. We don’t process refunds directly.
AI-generated content
The Archivist’s narrative is generated by a large language model (currently Anthropic’s Claude). The model can occasionally produce incorrect, inappropriate, or off-tone output despite our system prompt’s safeguards. You’re responsible for reviewing what’s inscribed before relying on it; report problems through support and we’ll iterate on the prompt.
You retain ownership of the text you enter (titles, descriptions, objectives). We’re granted a limited license to process and display your text in the app and to send it to our AI provider for in-voice generation, only for the purpose of running the service.
Service availability
We aim for high uptime but make no guarantees. The service may be unavailable for maintenance, infrastructure issues, or third-party outages (Supabase, RevenueCat, Anthropic, Expo, Apple, Google). We’re not liable for losses caused by downtime.
Intellectual property
- “Questline”, the Archivist character, the cinematic intro, the parchment art, and the visual design are ours.
- Open-source components are licensed separately under their own licenses.
- You don’t get a license to use our brand assets outside the app itself.
Termination
You can delete your account any time from Settings → Delete account. We can terminate accounts for violations of these Terms with notice, or immediately for severe violations.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We disclaim all implied warranties to the extent permitted by law, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
Liability cap
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
Changes to these Terms
When we change these Terms materially we’ll update the “Last updated” date and notify you in-app at next sign-in. Continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Texas.
